It is a great pleasure to know that your company has taken such a compassionate decision and have heard our voices. I would like to urge you to never accept a shipment of monkeys again and continue on the path you have taken towards a better future. Το: airport@csair.us,StreetTeam@peta2.com To whom may concern China Southern Airways After learning that China Southern Airways plans to "ship" 80 nonhuman primates in 32 wooden crates to USA on Monday August 15, 2011, which will then be sent to a quarantine facility in Alice, Texas, owned by Shin Nippon Biomedical Laboratories (SNBL) in order to enter the laboratory and be subjected to cruel and deadly experiments, I am writing to ask that the CSA immediately cancels the shipping and seizes the 80 monkeys. As you may not know, SNBL garnered notoriety in 2008 after a whistleblower revealed that a monkey was boiled to death when her cage was put into a high-temperature cage-washing machine while she was still in it. The 80 monkeys might as well be treated this cruel way! Earlier last month, American Airlines had publicly confirmed that it will no longer transport nonhuman primates to be used in experiments. By doing this, American Airlines joined the British Airways, United Airlines, Virgin Atlantic, Qantas, Delta Air Lines, Air China, Monarch Air Group, Amerijet, IBC Airways, and several other airlines in refusing to transport primates to facilities where they will be tormented and killed in experiments. If you accept to help by cancelling the shipment, not only will these high intelligent and innocent animals be saved, you will also help in improving your company’s image. Since they cannot use those airlines companies to transport the primates, they turned to China Southern Airways. It is right down appalling to do something like that; animals suffer extreme pain and live under filthy conditions, with no sufficient veterinary care. By helping them to ship the animals to USA, you contribute in animal abuse! Moreover this really damages not only your company’s image but also China's image which is already too damaged in Europe because of the cruel fur farms. Μake the difference, save lives, improve the country's image! I urge you to cancel the shipment and adopt a formal policy against the transport of nonhuman primates for use in experiments. This flight is scheduled to depart this coming Monday, August 15, 2011, and will arrive in Los Angeles, where the monkeys will then undergo another stressful and grueling 1,500-mile trip in the back of a truck to a quarantine facility in Alice, Texas, owned by Shin Nippon Biomedical Laboratories (SNBL)—a company that was recently assessed a $31,000 fine for numerous violations of the federal Animal Welfare Act. SNBL also garnered notoriety in 2008 after a whistleblower revealed that a monkey was boiled to death when her cage was put into a high-temperature cage-washing machine while she was still in it. The monkeys will ultimately wind up at Harlan Laboratories, a company that both conducts tests on animals and sells animals to other laboratories. These social, intelligent animals face a future in which they will be confined to small barren steel cages and subjected to cruel and deadly experiments . A growing number of airlines refuse to take any part in the violent animal experimentation industry by prohibiting the transport of primates to laboratories for use in experiments. These airlines include some of the biggest names in the cargo and passenger airline industry, such as Cathay Pacific, EVA Air, China Airlines, Delta Airlines, Qantas, American Airlines, British Airways, Aer Lingus, and many others.
